My name is Mia Wexford, and I am an Australian IT security specialist working at the intersection of network engineering, VPN technologies, and digital privacy. I approach cybersecurity not as an abstract theory, but as a practical discipline designed to protect real people in everyday online situations.

I completed my studies at the University of Technology Sydney (UTS), where I focused on Information Technology with a strong emphasis on secure networks and system architecture. My academic background provided structure and discipline, but my professional growth has been driven primarily by real-world exposure to security challenges across Australia.

From Infrastructure to Individual Protection

Between 2008 and 2012, I worked as a Network Administrator and Security Analyst for a major Australian telecommunications provider. During this time, I gained first-hand experience with ISP infrastructure, large-scale data flows, and the management of encrypted traffic at a national level. This role shaped my understanding of how security policies are implemented—and where their limitations often lie.

From 2012 to 2016, I transitioned into consulting, supporting small and medium-sized businesses across Melbourne. My work involved deploying security frameworks, performing vulnerability assessments, and educating teams on how to build long-term digital resilience rather than relying on short-term fixes.

Independent Work and Privacy Advocacy

Since 2016, I have worked independently as a Security Consultant and Educator, specialising in VPN solutions and home privacy security for individuals and families. My current work includes personalised consultations, technical audits, research into emerging surveillance techniques, and the creation of educational resources that translate complex security concepts into practical guidance.

Alongside my technical work, I actively participate in Australian privacy advocacy. I have contributed to public consultations on data retention legislation, taken part in cybersecurity forums, and collaborated with privacy-focused organisations committed to strengthening digital rights within Australia.

A Practical Philosophy of Security

My professional philosophy is grounded in usability, transparency, and long-term protection. I believe effective security tools should be understandable, accessible, and aligned with how people actually use the internet.

Today, I continue to research, design, and evaluate VPN technologies that help users regain control over their digital lives—making online privacy a standard expectation rather than an advanced technical skill.
