Cats in Ancient Egypt

For the love of Cats... a short history. This 14 slide presentation explores the history of the relationship between cats (domestic and wild) and the Ancient Egyptians.
 
Cats have been beloved pets of humans for over five thousand years.
The Ancient Egyptians are credited with being the first civilization to domesticate cats and make them an esteemed part of their households.
The relationship probably arose as one of mutual benefit as the Egyptians harvested grain and needed vermin to be kept away from it and the cats sought a ready source of food. Companionship for both species was likely a bonus bi-product.
Egyptian word for cat is miaw. The word’s meaning  is indicated by the hieroglyph of a cat.
